Institute of Environmental Studies
    

The Institute of Environmental Studies was established in 2006 under the self financing scheme and developed under the able leadership of Prof. S. R. Gupta, Botany Department, as Director at the time of inception of this Institute. The Institute is now being headed by Prof. Smita Chaudhry, an eminent ecologist and internationally known academician. M.Sc. Environmental Science has been started as a professional course with a focus on interdisciplinary teaching and research. In the Institute, the students are trained to analyze and assess environmental systems and problems and to develop policies and strategies for sustainable environmental management. M. Tech Programme in Energy and Environmental Management has been started from academic session 2008-09. The Institute has started Ph.D. programme in Environmental Science. Currently six research scholars are working in the field of Plant Ecology, Environmental Biotechnology and Environmental Management.
