FACILITIES:
Library: The Centre has a rich collection of books, newsletters, journals, reports and periodicals. The Centre has approximately 2000 books and 15 Journals, national and international relating to Women’s Studies. The library subscribes to most of the important Women’s Studies Journals. Project reports, Census reports, Reports of the National Commission for Women are also documented in the library. The Centre has updated its library recently by adding 100 new books relating to Women’s Studies.
Teaching Lab: The Centre has developed a Computer Lab. for computer training course (Free of cost) for girl students of the university. Computers with allied items have been installed in the Lab out of the UGC grant received for the purpose. The course is also being offered to the regular students enrolled in the centre.

INFORMATION ON SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES HELD RECENTLY
The Centre organised 3 Residential Gender Sensitization Training of Trainers Workshops for Ambala, Yamunanagar, Panchkula and Kaithal Districts from 5-7 May, 2008, 8-10 May, 2008 and 21-23 May, 2008. These trainees have further been imparted training at Block level in the above 4 districts. The workshops were sponsored by the Department of Women & Child Development, Haryana.
The Centre organised Gender Sensitization Training to SMS members, SHG Pradhan, Women Panch, Sarpanch & Mahila Mandal Pradhan at the block level in 4 districts of Haryana i.e. Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kaithal from 19 May to 24 July, 2008. A total of 155 workshops of 35 participants each were organised. These workshops were sponsored by the Department of Women & Child Development, Haryana.
The Centre organized one day seminar on “Women Reservation in India” on 5 October, 2008 in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Justice. Hon’ble Dr. D.R. Shekhawat, Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi was the Chief Guest and Shri Amar Singh Bhadhouria, National Chairman (NCSJ), Sh. H.S. Hooda, Advocate General Haryana were present. Dr. R.P. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, Kurukshetra University Presided over the Seminar.
The centre organized one day workshop on “Policy on Sexual Harassment at the Workplace” on 9 March, 2009 in collaboration with Institute of Law, Kurukshetra University. Approximately 150 participants from various teaching departments, non-teaching departments of the university, Banks, Post Office, Senior Model School of the University and lecturers from affiliated colleges of Kurukshetra, Karnal, Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kaithal districts attended the workshop.
Legal Literacy Workshop was organized by the Centre in collaboration with the Institute of Law for women students and teachers on March 25-26, 2008.

The centre has been placed in Phase-III (which is the highest phase) in the XI Plan by the UGC Standing Committee on Women’s Studies based on its work and contribution to the discipline. The Phase III Centres are to serve as Nodal Centre for teaching/research and documentation for the region and develop as Advanced Research Centres.
Prof. Reicha Tanwar is the Northern Region Coordinator of the UGC Scheme on ‘Capacity Building for Women Managers in Higher Education’. Under this scheme 24 workshops have been organized and coordinated in the last three years in various universities in North India.
