About Us
The Department of Social Work was established in July, 1981. This is the pioneer department in Haryana and its neighboring states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Chandigarh. The aim of the department is to impart education, training and research in social work in order to provide professional manpower/human resource in social welfare and allied fields.

VISION
Developing manpower for professional social work practice to strive for creation of a just and equal society which ensures freedom from all forms of oppression and exploitation
MISSION
To develop human resource for competent and effective professional social work practice through teaching and research with diverse range of problems and issues related to individuals, groups and communities by using frame work of social justice and human rights to promote sustainable and participatory welfare and development.

The Department of Social Work was established in July, 1981. This is the
pioneer department in Haryana and its neighboring states including
Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of
Chandigarh. The Department of Social Work is committed to fostering
academic excellence, professional competence, and social responsibility
among its students. The department offers postgraduate and research
programmes as per NEP 2020 that integrate theory with field-based
practice.
Our curriculum is designed to equip students with critical thinking, ethical values, and practical skills required to address complex social issues such as poverty, gender inequality, mental health, and community development. Emphasis is placed on participatory learning through fieldwork, research projects, workshops, and collaborations with government and non-government organizations.
The department takes pride in its experienced faculty, who are actively engaged in teaching, research, and community outreach. Through extension activities, awareness programmes, and policy advocacy, we strive to create meaningful social impact at local, regional, and national levels. We aim to nurture socially sensitive professionals who can contribute effectively to welfare organizations, corporate social responsibility initiatives, healthcare systems, and academic institutions. With a strong commitment to the core values of social justice, human rights, and empowerment, the Department of Social Work continues to serve as a hub of learning, innovation, and community engagement.
