Ongoing Research

Presently, the department has four well-qualified teachers including 03 Professors and 01 Assistant Professor and four lecturers on part time basis. The faculty members of the department are involved in research in thrust areas of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and their role in Type II diabetes mellitus; purification and characterization of enzymes from Pediococcus acidilactici; development of Pediococcus acidilactici as a probiotic; study of SNPs and their role in thyroid and cardiovascular diseases; assessment of ameliorative effects of plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) and plant growth regulators (PGRs) on stressed wheat plants; synthesis and characterization of biomass derived nanomaterials for biological applications. Currently Prof. Jasbir Singh is running a research project entitled “Study of genetic variations in ATP- binding cassette transporter A1 and their association with type 2 diabetes mellitus and coronary artery disease in the population of Haryana (India)” awarded by Haryana State council for Science Innovation and Technology (HSCSIT) Panchkula worth Rs.19,61,500 (2022-25). Dr. Vinita Bhankar is running research project entitled “Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacterial and Silicon- induced Salt Tolerance in Wheat (WL711) plants” worth Rs. 2 lacs (2022-23) awarded by K.U. Kurukshetra

In past, faculty members have completed research projects sponsored by different funding agencies like UGC, DST New Delhi, DAAD (Germany) etc and published their results in various International and national Journals of repute. The faculty members have earned distinction in the form of national and international awards like the DAAD fellowship, UICC fellowship, Young Scientist projects cum award, Fellows of academic bodies, DST travel grant to attend International conference in USA etc.

There are two research laboratories equipped with latest instruments for research such as autoanalyzer, ELISA plate reader, PCR machine, incubator shaker, centrifuge machines, spectrophotometers, vacuum evaporator, Laminar air flow etc.
