ABOUT WIS
The Women in STEM (WIS) Forum, KUK was established in 2019. Constitution of the WIS Forum, KUK was initiated by Prof Anurekha under the guidance of Prof. Rohini Godbole and Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi after a two day workshop on “Opportunities and Challenges for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)” organized in Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra .
VISION
To create awareness regarding career, opportunities and funding schemes in STEM especially for women students, researchers and faculty in STEM so as motivate and retain Women in Science through interactions with senior and accomplished women faculty members in STEM within and outside university.
MISSION
To contribute to quality improvement, building scientific temper and to recommend management practices for motivation, retention and continuity of Women in STEM by targeting women student, researchers and faculty in the faculties of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences.
Prof. Rohini Godbole, is a physicist and academician specializing in Elementary Particle Physics from IISC Banglore and is felicitated by many awards and one of the most prestigious awards of our Country “Padma Shri” for her contributions in science and technology (2019)”. She initiated first WiS Forum in India in 2008 and authored “Lilavati’s Daughter”.

Welcome to the Women in STEM (WIS) Forum!
The Women in STEM (WIS) Forum at Kurukshetra University (KUK) was established in 2019, marking a significant step towards promoting gender diversity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The forum’s constitution was initiated by Prof. Anurekha, under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Rohini Godbole and Prof. Ashutosh Sharma,
Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi.
The WIS Forum aims to enhance quality, foster scientific temper, and recommend management practices to motivate, retain, and support women in STEM. Our focus is on women students, researchers, and faculty in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics especially of Kurukshetra University. Our forum is a vibrant platform where women in STEM can connect, share experiences, and support one another.
The forum Offer programs of i) Inspirational Speakers: where time to time women in STEM share their journeys, challenges, and triumphs; ii)Workshops and Panels: Where women in STEM participate in interactive sessions designed to enhance their skills and knowledge in various STEM disciplines. iii) Science Carnival: Where students in STEM get opportunity to participate in various programs such as essay writing, Model making painting etc. to motivate them to pursue studies in different branches of STEM.
Join us in our mission to break barriers, shatter stereotypes, and create a more inclusive and innovative future. Together, we can inspire the next generation of women in STEM and ensure that every voice is heard and valued.

April, 2019 a lecture was delivered by Professor Anurekha Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Electronic Sciences in Institute of Environment Sciences to inspire the students about scheme of girl students in sciences.
The awareness lecture in Maharaja Aggarsain Public School on 26-09-2019 was organized for the students of 10th Class. During the program, objective of STEM and various schemes offered by various government agencies as well as private agencies were discussed.
Motivational lectures were organized on 16th Oct, 2019 on the Topic, “Be a Chemistry Entrepreneur: Research+Entrepreneurship = Jobs” and “Be the Change in The New Era of Climate Research & Environmental Innovation” by WEF (Women Economic Forum) awardee for Exceptional Women of Excellence “Ms. Sarita Mishra”, Founder of Green Cosmos Energy Solutions Private Limited; Co-founder Tensor Digital.
One Day Seminar on “Women Innovators in STEM” jointly with KUTIC (RUSA 2.0), KUK on the occasion of International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11th Feb, 2020. Key note speaker for the seminar was Dr Darshana Joshi, Co-Founder and CEO of VigyanShaala International. Dr Darshana is the first Indian women to be elected the President of Graduate Union, the primary representative body of postgraduate students at the University of Cambridge, UK.
Poster Competition for Girls students (PG and Ph.D. of our University) for Women in Science and related topics, in the Senate Hall of the University on 11th Feb 2020.
